How unenthused I am for all types of talent shows these days.
I remember that there was once a time where they were all the rage, I remember when they had that world idol thing and the Norwegian guy won the contest. I was sure watching that.
But nowadays, with all these "Australia's Got Talent" and all the several thousand series of every kind of Idol that you could think about, I just kind of give up. I was watching the end bit of the current "Australia's Got Talent" last Monday, and they let someone go through to the final, and all he did was smash watermelons on his head and make obscene and vulgar noises. Now, I do have to admit, that there are quite a few people on that show who do have quite a lot of talent, but they must be thinking along the lines of something like, "wow, the watermelon man was able to get through to the finals, how good ARE we, really?"
I just don't know. But I'm sure not going to keep on tuning in for it.
But anyway, we woke up today and the picture on the TV had gone. Finished. Finito. Nada. NO PICTURE. It's just at this given time when I realise just how much I do rely on the TV to entertain me through the day. It was kind of an eye opening experience, but the good thing was that I did get a fair bit of homework done . In the end though, we kind of swapped round that television set for another, and now we at least have something to watch during the increasingly colder evenings.
Tomorrow I have a couple of tests for Spanish and Japanese, but I'm not really overly concerned to be honest, like with all my language assignments so far I'm just looking forward to doing them and then getting them over and done with. :D Plus with each test, it's another step closer to finishing the first semester at uni, and actually passing. That is pretty much tops. I know that if I can make it through these 6 months, I can stick with it.

Sweet Sunday
So today was one of those really relaxing Sundays, where there isn't a whole lot of stress, no iminent assignments that I haven't started on yet, nothing at all to worry about, so you're just able to relax, so I thought that today was just as good a day as any to give my next term subjects a think over and see what I want to do.
Just touching on the dilemma yesterday, I think that what I'm going to do (and sorry if this bores you, but this is pretty much more for me than anything else) is that I'm going to do a media subject next term, and then by the end of the year I might actually have a better idea of what it is I want to do. My reckoning is that if I wait until next year to try some media subjects, and then it doesn't really work out, it would probably put me in more of a spot than if I just did it next semester. So in that respect I think that my mind is pretty well made up.
But yeah, today was pretty good, went to Rovers tonight which was alright. We don't actually do a lot to be honest, and my commitment levels are wavering at best, but it's nice. I think that I will definitely try and make the effort to keep going, i do really enjoy it, plus for the moment I don't have uni on mondays, so it all works out. Tomorrow, I think that I will head off into Parramatta and just give out resumes left, right and centre, and see if that works, and then just do a bit of homework, so just a bit of a quiet Monday as well. And let's be honest, I really could use a job. :|
I am really glad though that I have found the effort to blog everyday though, even if it really isn't about a whole lot. I always mean to find interesting things but that never really comes into fruition, though. Perhaps I will try and get a few things together for the week, see how that goes. This could be really good practice if I do eventually want to get into journalism. But we'll see how it all pans out. For now, I think that it is almost bedtime! i might watch some of 'it's always sunny' first though. :D

Dilemma
Don't you just hate it when Jonsi and Passion Pit are both playing in Sydney on the SAME DAY? Gah, this may be one of the most annoying decisions that I have had to make all year long. Well, not really, but it was a hard decision to make.
I was checking out all the shows coming up on last.fm, and on the 3rd page of my "suggested events", I glimpse that there is a concert by Jonsi on August 2nd. And I got so excited, I kind of did a little fall out of my chair. Just to finish off my search and be fully thorough, I clicked to see the next and final page. And to my delight and immediate horror, I realise that there is a Passion Pit concert scheduled for the very same day.
WHAT ARE THE ODDS! ARGH!
Anyway, after a longwinded sort of mental debate, I kind of decided that I would most like to go to the Passion Pit concert. I know that it is Jonsi and he has kind of gone off into his own thing, but I have already seen Sigur Ros once before with Andrea, and as good as that concert was, I just have never seen Passion Pit before and I've heard that they put on a really great concert. So Passion Pit it is.
And just to continue on with this theme of dilemma's, I do actually have another one mulling through my mind at the moment. After this first semester at uni, I think that I have come to terms with the fact that I think that Ancient History is just not going to cut it for me. As interesting as i do find it, I'm finding it hard warranting spending so much time and effort on something that really isn't going to benifit me a whole lot in the future.
I think that one major issue is that this unit is kind of like a compulsary unit, and it's on archaeology. I acknowledge that it is an important aspect of history, but I'm just really not getting into it like I thought I would. I just don't find it as engaging as some of my other subjects, even less so than linguistics. So I've kind of been looking at sort of shifting my degree over to Media, or perhaps making Spanish my major and then fiddle around with the other subjects for a little while. Anyway, for the next few weeks, I think I'll be giving it a good hard look. The problem is that next term we're going to be doing mythology in history, which does sound a little more fascinating than archaeology, but I just don't know.
Either way, at least I will have plenty to think about for the next little while, although I do think that I am going to lean towards doing media, I just think that it looks really interesting, and that there are a lot more things that I could do with a degree in Media than in Ancient History. BUT, im definitely NOT going to making any rash decisions about it. I will make sure to have a good many cups of tea thinking this one over :D
On a better note, we picked up the second car and it is pretty nifty, I like it a lot but I think that it will take a little bit of getting used to. But it is really cool ^^

OMG
OMG
I know that I haven't posted in here for like, forever, but I just have seemed to be all caught up in uni, and I really didn't think that I have had anything to write about for the past couple of days. I've actually typed up a few posts that I have done on my laptop, so I might be able to put up 3 or 4 new posts over the weekend.
At the moment I am just chilling out to some Sigur Ros, and just getting into the studying mood. I'm really trying to get into the routine of studying for a couple of hours each day, just to sort of keep up with everything for the final push to the end of the semester.
But yeah, I haven't really been up to much to be honest, I did actually mangage to finish my history essay last week, which is like the biggest weight taken off my shoulders for the moment, and then I only have to do a little bit more for the linguistics assignment that I have. The end is close for that subject thank god. But in all honesty it hasn't actually been that hard, just kind of more tedious than anything else.
Pretty much the highlight for this week was randomly running into Andrea and Kurt at Westfields on Tuesday, that was good to see them again even if it wasn't for very long.
I'm planning something good for my next post, I'll work on it this afternoon if i feel like procrastinating a little bit :D

Breathe a Sigh of Relief
I have finished all of my assignments for the most part now, which kind of explains why i haven't really been bloggin for the past couple of days. Kind of had a mental brain explosion, what with all the assignments, but now I can have a really relaxing weekend, thank goodness.
So now, I can find all the good and the weird news stories out there on the internet, and I think that I've found a pretty good one.
Apparently there is a man in India who has not had anything to eat or drink for the past 70 years. And, he's not dead. Mr Prahlad Jani is apparently a "Breatharian", living of his 'spiritual life-force' alone. He's also being observed now by a university, who say that he's gone for about 6 days observation without any signs of dehydration or hunger.
Now, when I was coming home from university today, the bus I normally get just didn't come (thanks for that city buses), but the point is, i got home about 2:30 this afternoon, and only two hours after I would normally have lunch, and I was visciously hungry, so forgive me if I don't try and become a Bretharian. I might just hurt somebody.

The Writing is on the Wall
Or, the drawings are, rather.
I think that this would have to be one of my favourite videos out there on Youtube, I think that this concept of video is really great, and it would actually be something really cool to do if I possessed the proper artistic skills.
I really think that that is one of the most awesome things I've seen in a while, and I think that it would be really cool to do, especially in a boring old office or something like that, I think that it would brighten up your day no end. Not only because it is fun to do, but it really does look like something that you would appreciate being able to look at again and again.
And because the internet is good like that, when you find something that you like, you are bound to be able to find something that you like even more than that.
I think that this next video really takes the cake.
I guess the thing that gets me is that they're just so quick to paint over everything that they have already done, but I think that in this case it works out pretty well. I think that I like the community effort on things like this as well, it just seems to me as though it's a little more impressive that you've let everyone kind of do their own thing, but it still is able to look really good.
Anyway, I have to get ready for uni, do a bit of preparing and stuff like that, but let me know what you think of the videos!:D

DRIVING
Ok, so I'm just going to keep this one short, but on I said that I would let you know how my driving test went, and I am really glad to say that I did pass my driving test on the first go, and I am now actually allowed to drive by myself!
So the test itself was actually a lot easier than I thought that it was going to be, all I really had to do was stop by the kerb, do a 3-point turn and just drive around for a little bit. It really was a breeze, but I couldn't really tell how I was doing because the guy who was marking me was like a stone wall, couldn't really get any emotion out of him whatsoever, but I guess I must have done pretty well.
So yeah, I'm now actually able to drive around by myself, which feels pretty weird, I suppose, not really having anyone else in the car except for the people on the radio. But it's all good, I don't have to rely on public transport nearly as much as I used to.
I think that I'm going to keep it nice and short here, I'll come back tomorrow and write up a bigger and more interesting post, I haven't been in the blogging mood for the last little bit, but I will press on with it, I'm really surprise that I have been able to keep up with it this far to be honest.
